MOTOR VEHICLE

Lori McDonald, MVF Director, reported that there is no supervisor in VMF. John Aceves is going back to NAPS in Washington, D.C.

PLANT MAINTENANCE

Pete Giroux, Maintenance Director, is on vacation. There were two new custodians hired. One is on the relief crew and the other is at Ft. Lowell Station. One of the custodians is a transfer. The Nogales Post Office has had no air conditioner working in three weeks. The company working on this won’t show up and work on it.

At the Green Valley Post Office, the part-time flexible are working on Sundays and Holidays. They are only bringing in one person for two hours. They use to bring in two people.

Vice President, Vicki Sommer-Gaines, stated that the Post Office is looking into five day mail delivery. President Bill Burrus said this is just a smoke screen. Since 1970 this has come up many times. On the Regional, the NBAs stated that all stewards are not certified to represent an employee in another work area. If this happens and you are not certified, your arbitration could get thrown out. Jim McCarthy gave a report on new equipment FSS. This machine will sort flats in delivery sequence order. This machine probably won’t fit in the Tucson Plant. Intelligent mail- a business can track this mail from when it was mailed to its destination. Regional Coordinator, Omar Gonzales, said everyone should try to get along. We had a briefing on the OIGs office. They are being aggressive. The 19-24 July, the bidding has to be done on bid cards. The system is being upgraded. Your OPF are on the line now. Please review your file to make sure everything is correct.

STATION COORDINATOR

Terri Rodriguez reported that she will be visiting a couple stations to file grievances. Afternoon staffing is a real problem. Supervisors are loading and unloading trucks. Todd Strommen from Coronado Station said carriers are coming in to spread mail. Bobbi Valenzuela said that the clerks need to throw 10 feet of mail an hour.

Connie reported that if you are on light duty, you don’t get out of schedule pay. Midtown ad Coronado Stations will be combined by March 2010. Midtown will move to Coronado. The window clerks are not going to be needed when this happens. Connie provided the members with early out information. Everyone is included except for Electronic Technician in Maintenance. Larry James in Phoenix said there will be two early outs. One with no money and some with money. Connie thanked the Trustees Mike Nichols and Michelle Launi for the audit that was conducted. Connie stated that Supervisors can’t ask for medical documentation. Terri will file a grievance on this matter. Management can’t ask you to provide information as to what is wrong with you. This information should be sent to the medical unit in Phoenix.
